Student life at HKU can be intellectually and personally rewarding with its wide range of extracurricular activities, conferences, public lectures and cultural events. The student union, amenities centers, canteens, cafes and terraces provide informal settings to develop friendships or to just spend a few hours over a book. To better serve the campus population of nearly 10,000 undergraduates and some 6,000 postgraduate students, the University is embarking on an expansion plan for building new residence halls and a student village.
The sports facilities include swimming pools, tennis courts, gyms, an outdoor track, and football and cricket pitches. The tree-shaded campus at Mid-Levels elevation offers exceptional views of the Harbour as well as hiking trails to the Peak.
With each incoming class, the sense of community is renewed at concerts, dances, parties and the ceremonies in Loke Yew Hall. Many of our alumni recall their fondest memories are of their student days at the University.
