The School of Business was established after its transformation from the Department of Management Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences in 1995. Since then, the School of Business has rapidly expanded its variety of programs in terms of major and minor subjects, as well as enhances its intake of the best and the brightest local and non-local students. We currently offer BBA single degree programs with the following specializations: Accounting & Finance, Human Resource Management, Management Studies and Marketing and International Business and Global Management (IBGM). Two new majors will be offered in 2009/2010: Business Design and Innovation and Wealth Management. We also offer two double degrees programs: BBA(Law)/LLB and BBA(Information Systems)/Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Computer Science.

In fact, the BBA (IBGM) as well as the BBA (Law) programs are among the 4 top rated programs at HKU, and within the top 10% of JUPAS programs offered in Hong Kong. We take great pride in our ability to collaborate with experts from other HKU faculties, as well as work closely with the Hong Kong business community. Our BBA (IS) and BBA (Law) programs were the first double degree programs to be established in Hong Kong.

Our very own Asia Case Research Centre (ACRC) supports the case teaching methods widely adopted throughout our school by producing a wide variety of Asian based cases every year. Our academic faculty hold PhDs from prestigious institutions around the world. They actively conduct discipline focused, as well as interdisciplinary research on both regional and international issues. Published in a wide variety of top internationally refereed journals, our teaching and research faculty are both highly accomplished as well as respected in their academic disciplines both in Hong Kong and abroad. Our alumni network has a long history of successful partnerships with the local and regional business communities. We have established a very successful two way partnership with our alumni in the Hong Kong business community: it includes the School’s ability to draw from a wide variety of business professionals who act as both career mentors as well as guest speakers for students; and the commitment of alumni to serve as industry experts on advisory boards in the various academic discipline areas in the School. This dynamic interrelationship provides our School with the unique opportunity to tap into current business trends and practices in the marketplace. This, of course, is then related back to our students through research as well as teaching.
